Priscilla McKenney, M.A.

Priscilla has over 30 years of experience in outdoor adventure and leadership. She has been the Program Director at GirlVentures (www.girlventures.org) since 2002.  She has worked as a Guide, Instructor, and Course Director for Outward Bound West, REI Adventures, Himalayan Treks, and Woodswomen. She was the co-founder of Lois Lane Expeditions, Inc., a guiding service which offered women’s mountaineering trips to the Himalayas and the Andes. Priscilla has a B.S. in Environmental Studies and a M.A. in Experiential Education from Prescott College.  She currently serves as a Graduate Student Advisor for Prescott College’s graduate program and has co-authored a chapter entitled, “Girls Outdoor Adventure Programs: History, Theory, and Practice,” published in the 4th edition of The Theory & Practice of Experiential Education.

Anja Whittington, Ed.D.

Anja’s passion for the outdoors began as a small child growing up in rural New Hampshire where she skied, hiked, and played in her natural surroundings.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry, a Master’s degree is Science Education, and a Doctoral degree in Education from the University of Maine where she studied how girls’ participation in an intensive wilderness program challenged their constructions of femininity. She has worked in a variety of non-traditional positions (forestry research technician, trail crew supervisor, surveyor), led wilderness trips for inner-city youth, and taught Dendrology (the study of trees) at Unity College and has a Registered Maine Guide’s License. She is currently an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of Recreation/Leisure Services at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She serves as a liaison for the Maine Girls Collaborative Project (supporting girls in STEM fields), on the Maine Girl Scouts’ Board of Directors, and as co-chair of the Women’s Professional Group, a professional organization within the Association for Experiential Education. She can be found mountain biking, backpacking, swimming, and kayaking in northern Maine.

Cydney Pullman, Ph.D.

Cydney is the founder and executive director of The Girls & Boys Projects, located in New York City. The Girls and Boys Projects are gender-specific educational programs for youth which emphasize self and social awareness, critical thinking, and community activism.  Cydney has been an educator and worked with adults and youth developing innovative, learner-centered programs for over twenty years. She has a doctorate in Labor Economics and is a certified hatha yoga instructor.


Amanda Sapir

Amanda is a Graduate Student at Prescott College in Counseling/Psychology with an emphasis on art and adventure based approaches to child and adolescent psychology. Her experience is in public policy, mental health, and the arts.  She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and a graduate of Coro Fellows Program in Public Policy. She has served as a consultant to an Oakland based arts camp for teens and as a consultant to the UCLA Social and Public Art Resource Center and

the Cesar Chavez Digital Mural Lab. She has worked as a Mental Health Technician at an in-patient treatment center for adolescent girls and as a mental health technician for an in-patient treatment center for adult eating disorder patients. She believes in the power of imagery, motorcycles, music, charcoal & paint, the natural world, spirituality, metaphor and many other things to empower ourselves to love, grow, and triumph. She is a storyteller and adventurer and aspires to play music and paint. Currently, while in graduate school, she also works full-time for a Congresswoman.
